SAMYTHOS is a new vertically integrated company producing homemade Greek super-foods.
We use the Evros variety of sesame seed, and it grows exclusively on SAMYTHOS’ mountainous and organic farmland, which is within the European Ecological Network of regions which are home to rare and threatened flora and fauna.
We harvest, sort, wash and dry the seeds by hand to minimise the risk of damaging the grain, which would compromise its quality.
The production of homemade tahini is a rather tricky process. SAMYTHOS is the only company in Greece to develop the know-how to produce organic tahini, uncooked under 30ºC.
We monitor the temperature throughout the production process to preserve the precious nutrients as temperatures above 40ºC are harmful.
Leading chefs and dieticians have recognised its uniqueness.
It is the only tahini which retains 100% of the vitamins and trace elements from the raw sesame seed.
When the hulls remain on the seeds, one tablespoon of sesame seeds will contain about 88 milligrams of calcium.
When the hulls are removed, this same tablespoon will contain about 5-10 milligrams (about 90-95% less).
